A message to politicians...

It isn't uncommon anymore to see or hear of a scandal involving a political figure or government figure (I'm from originally from IL...Rob Blagojevich ring a bell?) Anyway, it just frustrates me that we elect some figures to make choices that are in our best interest. Why can't someone run for office that truly has our best interest at heart? Why can't politicians remain true to who they are and not be corrupted by the system?

I've been reading bits and pieces of Pastor Brett Rickey's book Stay in the Yard and came across a section that touches on this topic. Pastor Brett writes that his Grandfather once preached "it takes a fish with backbone to swim upstream." We all have seen the evidence of leaders who have traded their backbones for prestige, corporate vacations and luxury vehicles. If we're going to make an impact on those around us it is crucial that we swim upstream.

It annoys me to no end when every time I turn on the television that there is nothing but one politician trashing another politician. Didn't their parents teach them that if they didn't have anything nice to say,not to say anything at all?
